Plastikon Automotive team is looking for a Quality Engineer – NPI to provide and direct activities with development, application, technical support and maintenance of quality standards for all value-adding industrial processes, materials, or products. Position requires an independent thinker who has extensive analytical capabilities with respect to root cause identification, correction and prevention of issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acquire information from customers and suppliers and communicate it internally to ensure that customer specifications and expectations are met or exceed
  • Work with Program Manager to define milestones on internal APQP and master timeline related activities
  • Submit PPAP to customers and work on getting approval. Plan and manage all related activities until PPAP closure.
  • Act as voice of customer quality to Plastikon organization.
  • Perform drawing GD&T and tolerance feasibility study, and provide feedback to the team and/or customer
  • Work with measurement fixture supplier(s) and cross functional team(s) to design and develop measurement fixtures. Review design with customer and get approval. Co-ordinate and manage fixture supplier timeline and related activities
  • Perform variable and attribute Gage R / Gage R&R analysis on measurement instruments and fixtures
  • Support engineering build trials, generate trial reports with quality related open issues list, work with cross functional teams to derive an action plan, manage communication/activities until closure.
  • Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing functions, product and inspection issues
  • Work with suppliers to define their PPAP requirements, co-ordinate and manage activities until PPAP closure
  • Process owner of completing IMDS submissions to customer
  • Interface with production, tooling and engineering teams to determine root cause of quality issues, action plan for correction and implementation. Develop and implement methods for preventing errors, i.e. poke yoke, appropriate use of SPC.
  • Write, revise and verify quality standards and procedures for inspection
  • Identify differences between established standards and user applications and suggest modifications to conform to standards
  • Monitor program performance after implementation to prevent recurrence of program operation problems and ensure efficiency of operations
  • Devise sampling procedures and design and develop forms and instruction for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data
  • Support various functions in implementation of processes/systems to meet various requirements: IATF / VDA / ISO 9001/ ISO 13485
  • Participate in cross functional opportunities to develop process flows and PFMEA’s
  • Develop and release control plans to production, review with cross functional teams and take into consideration the feedback in final releases.
  • Ensure identified controls are implemented within production and quality functions
  • Facilitate corrective action and validate effectiveness of implementation
  • Participate as a member of task forces to implement projects supporting production and training
  • Compile and write training material and conduct training sessions on quality control activities
  • Design and facilitate process capability, reproduce ability and engineering change to products
  • Key participant in maintaining lessons learned database. Support and manage related activities as assigned by Engineering Manager and/or Program Manager

 REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering or related field
  • 2+ years’ experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to support production
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools: Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of production/engineering of injection molded plastic, statistical process control techniques and application, and design failure analysis
  • Familiar with blueprints
  • Experience and knowledge of ISO standards
  • Working knowledge of surface plate calibration techniques, various inspection tool gauges, optical CMM, electronic test equipment
  • Knowledge of mathematical functions is essential
